The only port in the greater Buenos Aires area, together with Buenos Aires (autonomous city) it has a total population of 13.8 million. The city hosts most of the country’s financial activities, shipping companies and shipping agents, as well as other services. The greater Buenos Aires area is the largest industrial conglomerate in the country, being in the first place in production volumes in most industries. The city and its outskirts have a large network of highways connected by belt highways. These highways are connected with the country’s road network. There are railway connections with most of the country through seven railway lines which also have suburban passenger services. The commercial airlines are served by the Jorge Newbery airport, which is only 10 minutes away from the downtown area and handles all domestic and regional flights, and the Ezeiza (Ministro Pistarini) International airport which handles most international flights and is 40 km away from the downtown area.
